What is conscious evolution?
It is, literally, changing the way we operate as a species through the
evolution of our own consciousness, by making conscious choices. By
choosing to be aware of our impact on the web of lifeand on our fellow
human beingswe move beyond the basic, selfish urge of the individual,
and begin to take responsibility for the conscious evolution of humankind.
The consciousness evolution
of humankind is one of the great awe-inspiring stories of life on earth.
But we cant stop now. The current state of human consciousness is
what has gotten us into the ecological disaster we are currently in,
which now threatens the future of all life on this planet. A leap in
our consciousness evolution is what is called for at this point in human
history.
Ken Wilber is one of the foremost
philosophers to write about conscious evolution. He says that the evolution
of human consciousness depends on our ability to include different cultures
and species in our sense of self, tribe allegiances and worldview. He
also says that the surest way to raise your consciousness as an individual
is to meditate on a daily basis.
